New York City just committed $9 million to organizations providing gender-affirming care for trans youth (https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2026/10/mamdani-administration-to-invest-9-million-in-orgs-providing-gender-affirming-care-for-trans-youth/), and every city and state in this country should do the same. Hospitals have been abandoning these services under political pressure, leaving families with no options. Local and state governments have to fill that gap now. Gender-affirming care is medically necessary and endorsed by every major medical association. When the healthcare system fails these kids, government must step up. Make funding and covering gender-affirming care for trans youth a budget priority — these families cannot wait.
