STOP FLORIDA'S ANTI-PROTEST BILL FROM SPREADING NATIONWIDE

To: Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters, Rep. Bergman

From: A constituent in Beulah, MI

March 4

We are writing from Michigan—and from communities nationwide—to demand that every state reject copycat legislation modeled after Florida's HB 1471 / SB 1632. These bills allow the state to secretly label organizations as "domestic terrorists" based on vague accusations of "intimidating" the government . Students can be immediately expelled for "promoting" designated groups. Organizations can lose funding without ever being convicted of a crime . The definition is so broad it could target peaceful protesters, student groups, civil rights organizations, and anyone the government disagrees with . Michigan residents are watching. Residents of every state are watching. This is not about public safety. It is about silencing dissent. This is an National Call 📞 on every governor and state legislator to: 1 Publicly reject copycat legislation 2 Affirm that peaceful protest is not terrorism 3 Protect the First Amendment rights of every citizen The right to speak out is not a crime. Don't let Florida's authoritarian playbook spread.
