OPPOSE Michigan Bill 4938 “The Anticorruption of Public Morals Act”

To: Gov. Whitmer, Rep. Pavlov, Sen. Lauwers

From: A verified voter in Marysville, MI

September 20, 2025

I am writing to urge representatives to strongly oppose “The Anticorruption of Public Morals Act”, proposed bill 4938 by Josh Schriver. This bill would be a disastrous overstep of government censorship on the public. The legislation has broad-sweeping vague guidelines on what is considered “pornogrpahic”, as well as the text that would criminalize any “circumventing measures” aka privacy measures. it opens the door for the continued discrimination against minorities especially trans individuals. This proposed bill specifically singles out those who are gender non-conforming and put them in danger of being fined or even jailed. That is completely unacceptable. As our representatives it’s your responsibility to protect your constituents from harmful government action. You must oppose this bill to protect our vulnerable populations, free speech, and rights against censorship.
