Block Trump’s Insurrection Act Threat Against U.S. Citizens

To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Casar

From: A verified voter in Austin, TX

January 15

We will not stand for this. Trump must not be allowed to use the Insurrection Act to deploy military force against American citizens exercising their constitutional rights. Sending 3,000 federal agents to Minnesota costs taxpayers roughly $15 million per week while producing chaos, not security. ICE agent Jonathan Ross shot Renee Good, a U.S. citizen and mother of three, through her windshield as she turned her steering wheel away from him. Video analysis proves she was steering right when he fired three shots. The DOJ refuses to investigate this as a civil rights violation. Instead, they’re demanding prosecutors target Good’s widow. Six experienced federal prosecutors resigned rather than follow those orders. Americans who monitor government activity are not terrorists. Federal agents who kill citizens deserve scrutiny. No president gets to weaponize the military against his own people. That’s the line between constitutional democracy and authoritarianism.
