Stop $1 Billion Board of Peace. Protect UN, Protect NATO Alliances

To: Sen. Cruz, Rep. Casar, Sen. Cornyn

From: A verified voter in Austin, TX

January 21

I urge you to publicly oppose President Trump’s “Board of Peace” and demand congressional oversight of any U.S. participation in this body. The leaked charter grants Trump exclusive veto authority, charges nations $1 billion for permanent membership, and explicitly states a need to “depart from approaches and institutions that have too often failed” (ABC News, January 20, 2026). France has refused to join, warning it could replace the United Nations. Ireland’s Foreign Minister called the mandate far broader than Gaza. Putin and Lukashenko have received invitations. This is not multilateral diplomacy. It is a pay-to-play body under one man’s personal control. The pattern is clear: Trump threatens 10% tariffs on eight NATO allies over Greenland, admits in writing he no longer feels an “obligation to think purely of Peace” after not receiving the Nobel Prize, and now seeks to build a rival to the UN with himself as permanent chair. I am asking you to introduce or cosponsor legislation requiring Senate advice and consent before U.S. participation in any international body that duplicates UN Security Council functions, and to publicly state that Congress will not fund an organization designed to circumvent 80 years of international law.
