Reject Todd Blanche for U.S. Attorney General I am writing to express strong opposition to the appointment and potential permanent nomination of Todd Blanche as the Attorney General of the United States. Following the recent dismissal of Pam Bondi, the elevation of Mr. Blanche—who served as Donald Trump’s personal criminal defense attorney—represents a profound conflict of interest that threatens the independence of the Department of Justice (DOJ). The American people deserve an Attorney General whose primary allegiance is to the Constitution and the public interest, not to the personal legal defense of the President. Mr. Blanche’s history as the President's lead attorney in high-profile criminal matters, including the New York hush money case and federal investigations, makes it impossible for him to serve as an impartial arbiter of justice. His career has been defined by shielding the President from legal consequences; putting him in charge of the nation’s top law enforcement agency essentially transforms the DOJ into the President’s personal law firm. Furthermore, Mr. Blanche’s brief tenure as Deputy Attorney General has already been marred by ethical concerns. Reports have highlighted a glaring conflict of interest regarding his personal financial holdings in cryptocurrency while simultaneously issuing department-wide memos that scaled back enforcement and investigations into the crypto industry. This pattern of prioritizing private interests—and the interests of his former client—over transparent and ethical governance is disqualifying. The Justice Department must remain a neutral institution that serves The People, not a tool for executive protection or political retribution. I urge you to reject Mr. Blanche’s nomination and demand a nominee who possesses the necessary distance from the President’s personal legal entanglements to restore public trust in our legal system.
