Stop the triumphal arch, stop the $1.8B slush fund. Stop celebrating insurrection. Trump’s shocking $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” fund and his ridiculous triumphal arch both celebrate lawlessness and insurrection. Stop them both! As Heather Cox Richardson wrote in her May 23, 2026 Letters From An American, “The proposed arch obscures the Lincoln Memorial, built to honor the president who steered the country safely through the Civil War, but perfectly frames Arlington House, the mansion built by enslaved Americans and once owned by Confederate General Robert E. Lee. The arch does not frame the nation’s honored dead, but frames instead the home of the man who led the armies of the Confederacy that killed them.” Don’t let them raise the arch and celebrate the Confederacy. Trump’s $1.8 billion slush fund would let Trump funnel money toward people who have participated in an insurrection against the US Government on January 6, 2021. These people were not unfairly targeted by a “weaponized” federal government. We all watched them storm the Capitol chanting to kill the Vice President. They were indicted, tried, and found guilty of their crimes. There was no weaponization: the system worked as it was supposed to, until President Trump’s horrific blanket pardons. Don’t let them create a fund to monetarily reward insurrectionists. Stand up. Do your job. We need you.
