Defend the CFPB: Protect Consumers from Corporate Greed and Musk’s Money Grab

To: Sen. Paul, Sen. McConnell, Pres. Trump, Rep. Guthrie

From: A verified voter in Shepherdsville, KY

March 11

I urge you to take immediate action to prevent the dismantling of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), an essential institution that safeguards the interests of American consumers. The CFPB has played a critical role in protecting consumers from predatory practices, ensuring transparency, and fostering accountability in the financial sector. Eliminating or weakening this agency would directly harm consumers, leaving them vulnerable to unfair practices by financial institutions, and create an environment where banks are less incentivized to prioritize ethical behavior and fairness. The call to dismantle the CFPB, particularly under the influence of individuals such as Elon Musk, who stands to benefit financially from such an action, is a clear example of a money grab at the expense of the American public. This is not about improving consumer choice or enhancing financial markets; it is about empowering a few wealthy individuals and corporations to exploit the very consumers the CFPB was created to protect. We cannot allow this to happen. The CFPB is vital for ensuring that consumers are not taken advantage of by large corporations and financial institutions. We need Congress to stand up for the American people and protect this vital agency from being dismantled for the personal benefit of the wealthy few. I urge you to oppose any efforts to undermine or eliminate the CFPB and to stand firm in your commitment to ensuring that consumer protections remain strong and effective.
