I am writing to demand that you immediately initiate impeachment proceedings against President Trump and his entire administration for threatening military aggression against Greenland, a territory of Denmark and our NATO ally. This is not a matter for debate or delay. The administration has openly threatened war against an allied democracy to seize territory, and Congress must act now to remove them from office.
Yesterday, January 5, 2025, senior White House advisor Stephen Miller appeared on CNN and explicitly stated that "Nobody's going to fight the United States militarily over the future of Greenland." He questioned Denmark's sovereignty by asking "by what right does Denmark assert control over Greenland?" and declared that "Obviously, Greenland should be part of the United States." When pressed, Miller refused to rule out military force to seize the territory. This came one day after U.S. forces seized Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro on January 4, proving this administration will use military force for territorial expansion.
Today, January 6, NATO members issued a joint statement affirming that "Greenland belongs to its people. It is for Denmark and Greenland, and them only, to decide on matters concerning Denmark and Greenland." Denmark's Prime Minister has urged the White House to "stop the threats." Our closest allies are now forced to publicly defend themselves against American military aggression.
Threatening to invade an allied nation to seize territory is an impeachable offense that violates international law, destroys the NATO alliance, and betrays the constitutional oath to faithfully execute the laws. This administration has demonstrated it will use military force to pursue territorial conquest. Every day they remain in office poses an existential threat to our alliances and global stability.
You must vote to impeach and remove President Trump and his entire administration immediately. The constitutional remedy exists for precisely this situation. Use it.
