Hold the line on DHS and ICE funding

To: Rep. Jayapal, Sen. Cantwell, Sen. Murray

From: A verified voter in Seattle, WA

February 6

As your constituent, I’m writing to say plainly: I support you in holding the line on funding the Department of Homeland Security and ICE. Congress must not continue funding these agencies as they currently operate. Temporary extensions and half-measures only entrench patterns of abuse and illegality. Funding should resume only after DHS and ICE are fundamentally restructured with clear limits on authority, real judicial oversight, transparent identification, lawful procedures, and enforceable accountability. I know you are already speaking out about these dangers and pushing back publicly. I want you to know that your constituents are behind you. We see the constitutional crisis unfolding, and we expect Congress to use its power of the purse to stop it. A shutdown would be disruptive—but permanently financing agencies that defy courts, violate rights, and operate without accountability is far worse. Thank you for standing firm and for continuing to lead on this. Please keep holding the line.
