Oppose the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act and KOSA

To: Sen. Warnock, Rep. Carter, Sen. Ossoff

From: A constituent in Hinesville, GA

May 31, 2025

I'm writing in opposition to bills like IODA and KOSA. Protection of minors shouldn't come at the expense of the rights of adults. SESTA and FOSTA have failed to protect sex workers from trafficking and exploitation, only increasing it because they are forced to go back on the streets where abuse happens more frequently than in a controlled environment. Age verification laws didn't protect a lawmaker in Kentucky from having their photos shared with rogue pirate sites that distribute and profit from NCII and CSEM made with stolen photos. Sexual expression is a frequent scapegoat for the myriad of issues that contribute to CSEM and NCII production, along with sex trafficking and exploitation. Reworking these laws so that they are held to strict scrutiny would go a long way towards more effective and less invasive ways to fight trafficking and exploitation without violating free speech. Please oppose KOSA and IODA.
