As a DoD civilian, I am tired of living in constant fear for my job due to this mass firing plan. It is inhumane to subject the workforce to such severe disruption and uncertainty. The Pentagon's plan to fire 5-8% of its civilian workforce will have severe consequences for national security readiness. Many dedicated and high-performing employees are being terminated without proper justification or review of their mission-critical roles. This mass firing violates federal laws requiring analysis of the impact on military capabilities before workforce reductions. Morale is plummeting among remaining personnel who feel their outstanding service is unappreciated. For the sake of our national defense, this illegal termination process must stop immediately. A thorough case-by-case review factoring in employee performance and operational needs is absolutely vital to maintain the highly skilled civilian workforce our military depends on. Upholding established workforce management laws will protect military readiness from reckless disruption.
