Please protect Haitians who have Temporary Protected Status immediately by legislation. Haiti is still not safe for the TPS recipients here. They must not be sent back summarily: they are our neighbors, community members, humans we undertook to protect. ................................................................... ................................... As you are surely aware: Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for over 350,000 Haitians is facing imminent termination due to a U.S. Supreme Court ruling. A brief court-ordered extension will maintain protections and work permits temporarily valid through July 27, 2026. -- The senate blocked a bill that would have extended TPS. This was a deplorable vote. Congress can extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians by passing specific legislation, such as companion bills H.R. 1689 and S. 4814. Those bills directly mandate the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to designate Haiti for TPS. ..................................................................I urge you to support those bills and to speak out strongly to defend TPS status for Haitians.
