Vote against the FY2027 NDAA unless the Save America Act is stripped from it. A defense authorization bill is not the place for voter suppression — Speaker Johnson inserted this provision at the demand of rightwing lawmakers, and it has no business being attached to military policy. The NDAA should fund our troops, not gut mail-in voting and pile on new voter ID restrictions. The House passed this bill 216-212, a near-party-line vote that shows exactly how controversial this maneuver is. Seven House Republicans even broke ranks to oppose it. The Senate now has the chance to do what the House wouldn't: reject the cynical use of must-pass defense legislation to advance a partisan electoral agenda. Our service members deserve a clean NDAA, not one weaponized against the voting rights of the constituents those same service members protect.
