Stand Up For Voting Rights -- Please Fight for Mail-In Ballots

To: Sen. Cantwell, Sen. Murray, Rep. Jayapal

From: A constituent in Seattle, WA

September 1

I have voted by mail in every election since I was old enough to vote. My mother and father and my grandfather did the same before me. It was never a controversy. It was just how we did things, part of our rights as everyday Americans. Part of the guarantee that we live in a free country. Now I watch the news and hear talk of canceling or obstructing mail-in ballots, which would make it harder for people like my parents---elderly, yet still busy with work, and who live an hour from the nearest polling place---to have their voice counted at all. You have spent a career fighting for people who get overlooked. I am asking you not to let this be the fight you sit out. Please, use every tool in your reach---the floor, the committee, the phone---to keep the ballot box open to people like us.
