I am writing as your constituent to express my firm rejection of non-binding messaging votes like H.Con.Res. 9. While Congress spends legislative time passing symbolic declarations condemning economic doctrines, working families in our district face rising costs, corporate monopolies, and declining economic mobility. Conflating democratic social safety nets and worker-owned enterprises with authoritarian state regimes is a bad-faith distortion. Passing broad declarations against economic reform creates a dangerous chilling effect on public debate and opens the door to privatizing foundational programs like Social Security and Medicare. I urge you to stop supporting empty ideological declarations and instead focus on legislation that supports true economic democracy, including: 1 Protecting Essential Social Programs: Safeguarding Social Security, Medicare, and public infrastructure from privatization efforts framed under anti-socialist rhetoric. 2 Supporting Worker Ownership: Passing federal legislation that expands access to capital and tax incentives for worker-owned cooperatives and Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs). 3 Ending Corporate Welfare: Stripping government subsidies and tax loopholes from mega-corporations that undermine local economies. True freedom requires economic security and democratic participation in our workplaces. Congress should focus on serving working people rather than passing partisan messaging bills.
