Big tech continues to exploit minors and society by keeping data for far longer than it should. Minors and victims of stalking and harassment should have stronger privacy rights online, but measures that encourage privacy are ignored in favor of bills like SESTA and FOSTA, largely performative laws that do nothing to protect women and kids from exploitation but allow tech companies to continue to profit while trafficking still happens on their watch. Making companies wipe sensitive information on a weekly basis would reduce hacks, leaks, and exploitation while protecting kids. Also requiring parents and family members to not post pictures, videos or clips of their kids online or any of their personal information would reduce a lot of exploitation, stalking and tragedy. Also, big tech needs to face penalties for failing to delete the personal information of under 17's. Kids are not data farms.
