I. Statement of Moral Priority
We, the undersigned, call for a fundamental shift in how the United States applies its most severe punishments. We believe that a justice system should reflect the values of restoration and transparency. Therefore, we demand that the Department of Justice (DOJ) immediately adjust its protocols to distinguish between crimes where healing is possible and crimes of absolute predatory depravity.
II. Remove the Death Penalty for Murder
We believe that for the crime of murder, the state should not respond with further killing.
• Mandatory Life Sentences: We advocate for "extreme punishment" through life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
• The Path to Healing: A life sentence allows the perpetrator a lifetime to face their actions and seek spiritual or psychological reform. It also allows the justice system to avoid the irreversible error of executing the innocent.
III. The "Epstein Standard" for Capital Punishment
In light of the ongoing revelations from the Epstein Files, we demand that if the death penalty exists, it must be reserved exclusively for Extreme Sexual Assault and Predatory Sex Trafficking.
• The destruction of a person’s soul and bodily autonomy through systematic sexual violence is a "civil death" that leaves no room for healing for the survivor.
• We find it unacceptable that the DOJ is rushing to execute for various federal crimes while many powerful individuals identified in the Epstein files have yet to face the highest level of accountability.
IV. The Abortion Protection Clause
We demand an explicit federal guarantee that the death penalty will never be applied to cases involving reproductive healthcare. No person should ever face the threat of execution for seeking, providing, or assisting with an abortion, regardless of state-level reclassifications of such acts.
V. Demands for Immediate Action
1 Commute all current federal death sentences for murder to life without parole.
2 Narrow the Federal Death Penalty Act to apply only to extreme sexual predation.
3 Transparent Compliance: Fully release the Epstein files without "mysterious redactions" to ensure those perpetrators are the ones facing the DOJ’s most aggressive prosecution.
