Reject Vought nomination, protect women's healthcare and rights
To: Sen. Gillibrand, Sen. Schumer
From: A constituent in Forest Hills, NY
January 23, 2025
The proposed appointment of Russell Vought as Director of the Office of Management and Budget raises grave concerns about the erosion of reproductive rights and access to critical healthcare for women. Vought advocates for an extreme anti-abortion stance, opposing any exceptions even in cases where the life of the mother is at risk. This hardline position disregards medical realities and the complex situations that can arise during pregnancies, including life-threatening conditions like ectopic pregnancies or severe fetal abnormalities incompatible with life. Denying access to abortion services under such circumstances jeopardizes women's health and lives unnecessarily. We cannot allow ideological agendas to supersede scientific evidence and compassionate care. I urge you to carefully consider the implications of Vought's nomination and the potential for restricting essential reproductive healthcare services that women rely upon. Protecting women's bodily autonomy and ensuring their safety must be a priority. Please vote against this nomination to uphold these fundamental rights and safeguard women's well-being.
