As a resident New Mexican and avid outdoorsman who cherishes our state's priceless treasury of public spaces, I am highly alarmed by the Trump administration's audacious and unprecedented plan to seize and sell millions of acres of public lands and national monuments for the purpose of commercial "resource extraction." There are few issues more likely to unite New Mexicans of both parties in a shared rage against this rogue administration and its increasingly authoritarian excesses.
As a veteran and fighter accustomed to thriving in harsh desert environments--and unaccustomed to backing down from a hard fight--I am prepared to organize and mount an armed occupation of these irreplaceable public resources if necessary in order to prevent their commercial exploitation.
To borrow from Sir Winston Churchill, "If this long...story of ours is to end at last, let it end only when each of us lies choking in his own blood upon the ground.”
