A recent poll found that 79% of Americans think that immigration is a good thing. Indeed, immigration is what has formed the United States. Violent criminals or gang members should not be afforded immigration status or benefits, but hard-working, law-abiding immigrants should be welcomed. The recent violent raids on agricultural workers in California are appalling. The workers are not criminals that should be imprisoned or deported. Immigrants, including women and children, were subjected to terrorizing tactics. This can never be condoned. Rounding up people indiscriminately is not humane or legal. I urge you to use your power and influence as an elected official to stand up against this type of activity. As Americans, we're better than this. Or sh ould be.
