Support the Department of Education Protection Act

To: Sen. Fetterman, Pres. Trump, Sen. McCormick, Rep. Dean

From: A constituent in Lansdale, PA

February 7

I am writing to express my strong support for the Department of Education Protection Act introduced by Congresswoman Jahana Hayes. This crucial legislation safeguards the U.S. Department of Education from efforts to dismantle or underfund the agency, ensuring every student has access to a free and appropriate public education. Public education is a fundamental right, and the Department of Education plays a vital role in promoting student achievement, fostering educational excellence, and ensuring equal access to quality education for all students. Threats to downsize or restructure the agency jeopardize these essential functions and the rights of nearly 50 million public school students across the nation. The Department of Education Protection Act rightfully prohibits the use of appropriated funds to decentralize, reduce staffing, or alter the responsibilities, structure, authority, or functionality of the Department of Education. By maintaining the agency's current organization and resources, this bill upholds Congress's authority in shaping federal education policy and preserves the integrity of our public education system. As a nation, we must prioritize investing in education and empowering the Department of Education to fulfill its critical mission. I urge you to support the Department of Education Protection Act and stand up for the right to quality public education for every student.
