End The National Emergencies Act

To: Sen. Gillibrand, Sen. Schumer, Rep. Clarke

From: A constituent in Brooklyn, NY

April 10

This trade war that Trump started was predicated on his implementation of the National Emergencies Act. There was not an emergency or crisis UNTIL Trump began his foolish tariffs and trade war with the rest of the world. We all saw and will continue to see market volatility until Congress acts and calls off the Trump manufactured emergency. If Trump is such a master negotiator, then why not negotiate in good faith? The high tariffs that he calls for in order to bring trade partners to the table with should be the last card in his deck, not the first. Our partners should abandon the US, we clearly are no longer a good or fair trading partner or ally. Who can trust Trump? Any deal now is only good until Trump turns on a whim and decides that he is being unfairly treated ( him personally, not our country necessarily). Why did he remove ethics and anti-bribery regulations? My guess is so that he can personally enrich himself as companies and countries come to negotiate with him and his regime. Please end the emergency act and restore the power of tariffs to Congress where it Constitutionally resides.
