Block any effort to implement Trump's March executive order restricting mail-in voting. The Supreme Court's decision to pause the lower court ruling doesn't make this order legal — the Court itself said so explicitly, noting that "time will tell" whether implementation measures will be lawful. Three justices dissented, with Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson calling it a "blatantly unconstitutional Order" that "needlessly injects chaos and uncertainty into the upcoming midterm elections." The stated justification — stopping noncitizen voting — is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Research has found noncitizen voting to be infinitesimally rare. Meanwhile, this order would let the Postal Service decide who gets a mail ballot, stripping that power from state legislatures and Congress, where the Constitution places it. Judge Talwani's ruling made that clear. Absentee voting starts in some states within weeks. My right to vote by mail should not be held hostage to a legally dubious executive power grab. Fight this.
