Vote no on the SAVE America Act and reject any version that includes anti-transgender provisions. This legislation would disenfranchise millions of voters while dehumanizing transgender Americans. The citizenship documentation requirement would burden 69 million American women and 4 million men who don't have birth certificates matching their current legal names due to marriage, assimilation, or gender identity alignment. Transgender voters already face barriers in states like Kansas, where licenses are being invalidated under laws requiring gender markers to match sex at birth. Adding federal restrictions on accurate IDs would make voting nearly impossible for many trans people. Attaching unrelated anti-trans measures targeting youth healthcare and women's sports participation to voting legislation is cynical and cruel. These provisions have repeatedly failed to pass Congress this session, with most being stripped in the Senate. Caius Willingham of Advocates for Trans Equality confirmed that adding anti-trans language would reduce Senate support, not increase it. This bill isn't about election security. It's about creating obstacles for eligible voters and scapegoating transgender people for political gain. Protect voting rights and the dignity of all Americans by opposing this legislation in any form.
