Student Loans Forgiveness and SAVE plan

To: Sen. Durbin, Sen. Duckworth, Rep. Budzinski

From: A constituent in Carlinville, IL

March 4

• I enrolled in SAVE as my income-driven repayment plan and I've been stuck ever since • I've been in forbearance since July 2024 (more than 18 months!), accruing interest with no payments counting toward forgiveness • The uncertainty makes it impossible to plan my household budget or make financial decisions • Alternative plans (IBR, RAP) have higher monthly payments that aren't affordable for my family • I want to repay my loans and work toward forgiveness, but I need a stable, affordable repayment option • I'm asking you to push ED for clear resolution on SAVE status and affordable repayment options
