Oppose Trump's Russian Diesel Deal — Condemn This Betrayal of Sanctions

To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Babin

From: A constituent in Houston, TX

October 12

You need to publicly condemn Trump's deal to import Russian diesel and demand it be reversed immediately. Congress passed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 just weeks ago — Trump signed it — and now his Treasury Department is issuing licenses to funnel money straight to Putin's war machine. Senator Tillis said plainly on Meet the Press that Trump "may be breaking the law." That's not a fringe view. It's a bipartisan conclusion. What makes this worse is that cheaper alternatives exist. Canada is right next door. American energy dominance — the argument Republicans themselves make — doesn't mean buying oil from a country actively killing Ukrainian civilians. At $6.28 a gallon, diesel prices are a real problem, but energy economists say U.S. consumers won't see relief at the pump until well after the midterms anyway. So who exactly benefits here? Putin gets a financial lifeline. American farmers and truckers get nothing in time. The question that demands an answer is why this president, given every tool Congress handed him to pressure Moscow, chose instead to reward Putin with revenue. Stand with Fitzpatrick, Bacon, Murkowski, Collins, and Tillis. Co-sponsor the Ronald Reagan Peace Through Strength Act and block these purchases before this deal does any more damage.
