It has come to my attention that the US Dept. of Education is planning to reclassify degrees in areas overwhelmingly held by women. These degrees are in education, social work, allied health (e.g. occupational therapy), nursing and counseling. This reclassification would result in lowering student loan amounts, making it more difficult to finance these programs, resulting in fewer women able to become economically independent. Another blow to equal rights for women. Collateral damage would impact services to everyone, medical care, and education of our children. The impact is staggering to consider. OPPOSE this reclassification. HOLD hearings. DO whatever you can to stand up for professional women and the educational opportunities for the younger women coming after us.
