As your constituent, I urge you to approve the six articles of impeachment filed by Yassamin Ansari and John Larson against Secretary Hegseth for high crimes and misdemeanors related to the attack on Iran without congressional authorization; the deadly strikes on suspected drug smuggling boats; the sharing of classified information on Signal; his efforts to withhold material facts relating to civilian casualties and operational conduct in Iran and Venezuela; his attempt to punish Senator Mark Kelly, a retired U.S. Navy captain, for reminding service members that they can refuse illegal orders; and forcing transgender service members from the military.
I believe the gravity of these actions demands accountability. Unauthorized military strikes not only undermine Congress’s constitutional role in approving acts of war but also place our service members and global stability at risk. Transparency and lawful conduct are essential to maintaining trust in our defense institutions, and any effort to conceal civilian harm or retaliate against those who speak out for legality betrays the values our nation stands for.
By approving these articles of impeachment, you can help reaffirm that no official is above the law and that our democracy requires honesty, oversight, and respect for human rights. Please stand with your constituents in defense of these foundational principles and support this critical measure in the interest of justice and accountability.
