My opposition to KOSA doesn't come from a bad place. No one wants kids or their families to be hurt, or to be exposed to inappropriate material. But there are better solutions than implementing top down age verification. California, for instance, passed a law that requires devices to come with device-based AV that doesn't need face scans or ID, but does require parents to set up the device by entering the child's information. It isn't perfect, but it is less invasive and better than blocking websites or forcing them to use faulty duty of care standards and automated AI moderation. Duty of care in its current form does more harm than good. This is how we got the Discord hack and the ROBLOX grooming situation. Please oppose KOSA and STOP CSAM.
