National security concerns from EA buyout

To: Sen. Gillibrand, Rep. Garbarino, Sen. Schumer

From: A constituent in Amityville, NY

October 23

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake, and Jared Kushner’s Affinity Partners have initiated a buyout of Electronic Arts (EA) for $55 billion. This would be the largest leveraged buyout in history and give the Saudi government a controlling stake in a major American tech and entertainment company, posing serious national security, data privacy, and foreign influence risks. The Saudi fund acts as an arm of the Saudi state, using cultural and tech investments to expand influence. EA holds personal and behavioral data on millions of Americans, which could be misused for surveillance or propaganda. Kushner’s firm’s financial ties to the Saudi fund also raise ethical and conflict-of-interest concerns. I urge you to call for a full, transparent CFIUS review to protect U.S. national security, technology, and cultural integrity from foreign control.
