Support the Handmaids Act: Protecting All Minors from Reproductive Exploitation

To: Sen. Peters, Rep. Bergman, Sen. Slotkin

From: A constituent in Beulah, MI

April 13

I am writing to urge you to support the "Handmaids Act." This legislation must establish that children under the age of 18 are minors, not "baby makers," and must never be exploited or coerced into sexual reproduction through any state or federal programs. This protection must be universal, ensuring the safety and bodily autonomy of both females and males. No minor—regardless of gender—should be subjected to reproductive coercion or sexual exploitation. We must ensure that all individuals have the fundamental right to say "no" and that this right is protected by law. Furthermore, this act must ensure that arranging marriages or forcing reproduction through sexual assault, infidelity, or criminal acts carries severe legal consequences. We must close any loopholes that allow for the exploitation of children or the violation of their bodily integrity. I ask you to champion the Handmaids Act to protect our youth from these grave injustices.
