The Dworkin Report: I found a sworn statement in a federal court file this week that I can’t stop thinking about, and I wanted you to hear it from me.
An Army soldier is on active duty. He and his spouse have four children, all American. The government had already approved his paperwork to sponsor his spouse. Then Trump’s regime sent the family a bill for more than a million dollars anyway.
After that, the government went after the spouse’s paycheck, took the family’s tax refund, wrecked their credit, and sued them. Six people, four of them American kids, getting by on one Army paycheck.
Reuters and Fox News both covered that court fight this week. Neither one told you about the soldier.
On Monday a federal judge put a stop to the rule behind bills like this one, at least while the case goes on. That’s one family’s fight. Here’s the bigger one.
The regime does this because the Congress we have now lets it. Not one Republican in Congress has lifted a finger to ask why a soldier’s family got a million-dollar bill.
