Vote against the SAVE America Act and reject the Trump administration's pressure campaign against state election officials. This is a coordinated effort to suppress votes and consolidate federal control over elections — and it needs to stop now.
The administration's claims don't hold up. Both Republican and Democratic election officials have pushed back hard. Pennsylvania's Republican Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt stated there is "no evidence whatsoever of widespread voter fraud happening, whether it's by noncitizens or people voting more than once." The documents Trump released Thursday show no evidence that votes or results were impacted. His claim that China committed "the largest compromise of election data in history" involving 220 million voter files falls apart when you realize that voter registration data is publicly available for commercial download — election experts say this is routine.
What isn't routine is threatening states with loss of federal funding and criminal prosecution for not handing over voter rolls. That's coercion. The SAVE Act would add barriers that make it harder for eligible citizens to vote, and using budget reconciliation to ram it through without the 60 votes it can't earn is an abuse of process. Protect the integrity of our elections by protecting access to them — block this bill and stand against this administration's assault on democratic participation.
