An Open Letter

To: Sen. Hawley, Rep. Burlison, Sen. Schmitt

From: A constituent in Ozark, MO

January 9

Subject: Request for State-Level Action Supporting Constitutional Accountability Dear [Senator/Representative Last Name], I am writing as a constituent to urge you, as a state legislator, to take a public stand in support of constitutional accountability by calling for impeachment proceedings against former President Donald J. Trump. While impeachment is a federal process, state leaders play a critical role in shaping public discourse, defending democratic principles, and affirming that no individual is above the law. When actions by any public official threaten the integrity of elections, the peaceful transfer of power, or public trust in government, silence from leaders at any level risks normalizing misconduct. State legislatures have historically passed resolutions, issued formal statements, and used their platforms to uphold constitutional values during moments of national crisis. I respectfully ask that you do the same by publicly supporting accountability measures and encouraging Congress to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities. This request is not about party affiliation—it is about the rule of law, democratic stability, and the message we send to future generations about leadership and accountability. Thank you for your service to our state and for considering this request. I hope you will stand firmly in defense of democracy and constitution
