Stop Trump's Destruction of U.S. Citizenship

To: Rep. Mannion, Sen. Schumer

From: A verified voter in Fayetteville, NY

December 20

The current administration is launching a three-pronged assault on our founding principles and our neighbors. 1. 🛡️ DEFEND BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP (14th Amendment) The administration is trying to end citizenship for babies born in the U.S. to undocumented or temporary-status parents. This radical move ignores 125 years of Supreme Court precedent and the plain text of the 14th Amendment. It would create a permanent underclass of non-citizen children in their own country. Congress must codify this right into law. 2. ⚖️ STOP THE DENATURALIZATION CAMPAIGN The government is escalating efforts to strip naturalized citizens of their citizenship, seeking to target 100-200 people per month—a massive increase from fewer than 15 per year. This is not about rooting out fraud; it’s a weapon of fear against our fellow Americans. Congress must halt this abuse through immediate oversight. 3. 🌍 PROTECT THE DIVERSITY VISA LOTTERY After a tragic crime, the administration paused the entire Diversity Visa program. This congressionally created lottery offers a vital, legal pathway for immigrants from underrepresented regions. Punishing 50,000 hopeful families for one individual's actions is cruel and unjust. Congress must order this program reinstated. These attacks seek to redefine America as a nation for only some, not all. They betray our history and our values. We call on you to: · Publicly affirm the 14th Amendment. · Launch oversight hearings on denaturalization and the visa lottery suspension. · Pass laws to protect these pillars of our system. Do not let citizenship become a political weapon.
