NO Sell-off of BLM lands. Reject Lee's new proposal. Uphold Byrd

June 24

Please reject Mike Lee's new Budget Bill proposal to sell of BLM (Bureau of Land Management) lands within 5 miles of cities. Public lands are a public good; they are a precious irreplaceable sacred treasure that we hold in trust for the future. Proposals to sell off public lands for short term gain to fund tax cuts for billionaires are a reckless destructive measure. They are a WICKED betrayal of our PUBLIC shared assets. We demand that you KEEP PUBLIC LANDS IN PUBLIC HANDS! As you know, Realtor, or Senator, Mike Lee, introduced this noisome grifting scheme. Now after the parliamentarian rejected it, he has changed his proposal: "1. REMOVE ALL Forest Service land. We are NOT selling off our forests. 2. SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE the amount of BLM land in the bill. Only land WITHIN 5 MILES of population centers is eligible." This is unsatisfactory; this vague promise will still lead to sale and ruin of vast areas. Please follow the parliamentarian: The Senate Parliamentarian ruled the plan to sell millions of acres of public lands would violate the Byrd Rule if left in the "Big Beautiful Bill" The Byrd Rule prohibits provisions considered "extraneous" to the federal budget in budget reconciliation bills. NO SALE OF PUBLIC LANDS in the big budget bill is acceptable. Say NO to Lee's revised proposal. Respect the Byrd Rule.
