An Open Letter

To: Sen. Gillibrand, Rep. Lawler, Sen. Schumer

From: A verified voter in Ossining, NY

October 24

It is absolutely ridiculous, unconstitutional, and dangerous, that the president is not seeking congressional approval to wage military actions in the Caribbean Sea. It is also immoral and illegal that servicemembers are being ordered to blow up boats--and the people on them--when no proof is being offered of the passengers engaging in illegal activity, and when they could be arrested rather than killed. This is state-sanctioned murder. Congress needs to assert its constitutionally mandated role as the body that authorizes military action, and our servicemembers need protection from being ordered to commit extrajudicial murder.
