The U.S. Postal Service is a vital public institution that has served the American people for over 250 years. It is a fundamental part of our nation's infrastructure that facilitates trillions of dollars in e-commerce transactions and delivers essential goods and services to every community. Privatizing this independent agency would disrupt these critical operations and put the interests of for-profit corporations over the needs of the public. The USPS is explicitly designed to be insulated from political interference. Attempts to dissolve its leadership and place it under direct White House control would violate long-standing federal law. Such a move threatens to undermine the agency's commitment to providing affordable, universal mail service without giving unfair advantages to certain states, cities or companies. The American people overwhelmingly support the Postal Service and rely on it for everything from medication delivery to carrying election mail. Privatization would jeopardize this invaluable public trust. I urge you to decisively reject any efforts to privatize or dismantle the USPS and instead work to uphold its independent status and universal service mission for all citizens.
