Your Pro-Israel, Pro-War Appointments Are Alienating

To: Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand

From: A verified voter in Bronx, NY

August 27

I am writing as a constituent and Democrat to say that these recent appointments to the House Foreign Affairs Committee are deeply disappointing and feel like a clear disregard for what Democratic voters are actually asking for. At a time when people across this country can barely afford rent, groceries, healthcare, and basic necessities, Democratic leadership appears more interested in elevating pro-war politicians to positions of influence than addressing the economic crisis facing ordinary Americans. I do not feel represented by a party that continues to prioritize militarism and unconditional support for Israel while working people are struggling to survive. Appointing politicians with records of supporting destructive foreign policy sends the message that party leadership would rather listen to powerful political interests than its own constituents. Schumer and Jeffries, you should be listening to the voters who elected you. We need affordable housing, healthcare, decent wages, and an economy people can actually live in—not more war and weapons. If Democrats want to maintain the support of working people, start acting like our voices matter.
