Days after a deadly flash flood tore through Grand Canyon National Park and forced a major rescue operation, new reporting put a disturbing Interior Department decision in the spotlight: nearly 300 National Park Service emergency-response personnel had been diverted from regional duties to projects in Washington, D.C. Some of those trained responders were reportedly assigned to work involving the East Potomac golf course and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, instead of preparing for disaster. These are Incident Management Team personnel — trained responders parks rely on when floods, wildfires, rescues, and other emergencies hit. SURELY this is illegal use of resources. SURELY Congress can put a stop to this!
