Outraged by the Arrest of Judge Dugan — We Need Accountability and Answers Now

To: Rep. Neal, Sen. Warren, Sen. Markey

From: A constituent in Westfield, MA

April 25

I am writing to express my deep concern over the recent arrest of Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. According to multiple news reports, Judge Dugan has been charged with obstruction and concealing an individual to prevent his arrest, allegedly for assisting an undocumented immigrant in evading Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents . This incident raises significant questions about the balance between federal immigration enforcement and the independence of the judiciary. The arrest of a sitting judge is an extraordinary measure, and it is imperative to ensure that such actions are not influenced by political considerations or used to intimidate members of the judiciary. I urge you to advocate for a thorough and transparent investigation into this matter. It is essential to uphold the rule of law and maintain the integrity of our judicial system. Any actions that could be perceived as undermining judicial independence must be scrutinized to preserve public trust in our institutions. Thank you for your attention to this critical issue. I look forward to your response and to learning about the steps you will take to address these concerns.
