The road to authoritarianism is designed and paved smoothly by popular, social, and news media designed to get you to react strongly to their cues, which mainly benefit them and their prosperous, powerful, and shrewd owners. Religious leadership sadly has too many in their numbers happy to help with this, and it’s been part of the Big Business of running American society (thus influencing our government) since pretty much the beginning, back when far fewer people qualified as voting citizens. Only now corporations qualify under the law as persons, and huge political donations few individuals are able to make qualify as free speech, drowning out our votes. Will anyone wearing a nice suit to an easy office, administrativ, or leadership job every day protect us from this? Did they do anything substantial to keep us from arriving exactly here? Will the suits we elect to public office finally do anything substantial now that we’re this far down this bad road?
