An Open Letter

To: Sen. Gillibrand, Rep. Jeffries, Sen. Schumer

From: A verified voter in Brooklyn, NY

November 5

Remove Schumer and Jeffries from their positions as leaders of the Democratic Party. Voters just handed Democrats control of Congress. I'm writing to ask you to read that result correctly: it happened despite our party's current leadership, not because of it. For two years, Democratic leadership has failed to mount any meaningful effort to rein in flagrantly illegal actions by the Trump administration. Voters were left to rely on courts and grassroots pressure while the people we elected to lead the opposition hedged, folded, and waited. Democratic leaders who presided over that failure should have resigned already, and owe their voters accountability, not another term. The midterm blue wave shows what people want: action, accountability, protection from harm, and visible improvements in their lives. I demand new Democratic leadership in 2027, leaders who will use every tool of the majority, including oversight, subpoenas, and investigations, and who will answer to the voters who put them there. Remove Schumer and Jeffries from their positions as leaders of the Democratic Party.
