Investigate Trump's Deliberate Misinformation Campaign

To: Pres. Trump, Sen. Murray, Rep. DelBene, Sen. Cantwell

Investigate the pattern of deliberate misinformation coming from the White House. The Reflecting Pool incident is a perfect case study: Trump publicly accused "radical left vandals" of serious crimes, threatened "years in jail," then when his own administration admitted contractors caused the damage, he went back on social media to contradict his own U.S. Attorney and insist it was still vandalism. That's not a mistake. That's a coordinated lie designed to muddy the waters before anyone notices the truth. This is a pattern, not an anomaly. On the Iran conflict, Trump announced a ceasefire while Iran publicly denied any talks were underway. On Todd Blanche's nomination, Trump put in writing that the $1.8 billion "anti-weaponization fund" would be dropped, then immediately posted that it would be "back on the table" the moment Blanche was confirmed. Senator Tillis called it out directly. These aren't gaffes — they are deliberate manipulations of the news cycle and public attention. Congress has oversight authority for a reason. Use it. Constituents deserve accountability, not a White House that treats documented lies as a governing strategy.
