Oppose the Revival of Schedule F and Protect Federal Workforce Integrity
To: Sen. Warren, Sen. Markey, Rep. Neal
From: A constituent in Westfield, MA
April 18
I am writing to express my deep concern about recent efforts by President Donald Trump to revive the controversial “Schedule F” executive order—an initiative that would make it easier to fire federal workers who are perceived as not supporting a political agenda.
This proposed rule is a direct threat to the foundational principles of our democratic government. The civil service exists to serve the American people with impartiality, professionalism, and continuity—regardless of who occupies the White House. Turning federal employment into a political loyalty test undermines the integrity, neutrality, and stability of our government institutions.
Schedule F would enable the removal of tens of thousands of career federal employees and replace them with politically motivated appointees. This opens the door to corruption, intimidation, and authoritarian overreach, and it erodes the trust Americans place in their government.
I urge Congress to take immediate action to:
• Block any attempt to reinstate Schedule F or similar efforts through legislation.
• Pass laws that protect the merit-based civil service system and guard against political purges.
• Ensure that government remains accountable to the people—not to the personal agenda of any one leader.
Our civil servants are not political pawns. They are scientists, veterans, analysts, public health experts, and everyday Americans who dedicate their lives to public service. They deserve protection from political retaliation, and the American people deserve a government that works for them—not just for those in power.
Thank you for your time and commitment to upholding our democracy.
