At least two of my family members are experiencing recurrences of cancer. A third remains cancer-free after having recently completed cancer treatment. My cousin is self-employed. He runs a coffee shop with his wife. My sister lives in poverty, just barely holding onto her house and skipping meals so that her children can eat. My best friend, my most reliable source of help and support on earth, a man who fills his church, his community, and frankly the world with gorgeous, lyrical music as a pipe organist, accomplished pianist, and heart-wrenchingly beautiful vocal artist - he relies on ACA subsidies to afford healthcare. If ACA subsidies are not extended, my best friend will fall out of good health. Someone in my family could die. My nieces and nephews would suffer illness, unresolved injuries, and possibly homelessness. Additionally, I will ensure that my community knows very clearly what has happened to my family and loved ones, and how each of their representatives voted on the issue. Extend those subsidies.
