Reverse policy undermining mRNA vaccine research

To: Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted, Rep. Joyce, Pres. Trump

From: A constituent in Willoughby, OH

August 7

The recent announcement from HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to terminate nearly $500 million in contracts focused on developing mRNA vaccines is deeply concerning. This decision deals a major blow to a promising area of research that has proven its potential through the rapid development of effective Covid-19 vaccines. By cutting funding for mRNA technology based on unsubstantiated claims and conspiracy theories, Kennedy is actively undermining scientific progress and jeopardizing our preparedness for future public health emergencies. The move to shift funding towards outdated whole-virus vaccine platforms demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of how modern vaccine development works. mRNA vaccines offer unparalleled flexibility and speed in adapting to evolving viral threats, making them invaluable tools for addressing rapidly mutating respiratory viruses. Kennedy's assertions about the ineffectiveness of mRNA vaccines against Covid-19 and influenza are contradicted by overwhelming scientific evidence. This reckless decision not only represents a dangerous disregard for scientific consensus but also poses a significant threat to public health and safety. RFK Jr needs to be removed from office immediately. It is imperative that this misguided policy be immediately reversed to restore funding for mRNA vaccine research and development. Allowing conspiracy theories and anti-vaccine ideology to dictate public health policies is unacceptable and puts countless lives at risk.
