Stop cruel deportations to Libya, uphold human rights

To: Sen. Cantwell, Pres. Trump, Sen. Murray, Rep. DelBene

From: A verified voter in Kirkland, WA

May 7

Regardless of citizenship or immigration status, the Trump administration's plan to deport migrants to Libya, a war-torn country with notoriously brutal conditions in its detention centers, is a flagrant violation of human rights. Sending innocent people to face potential horrors like beatings, sexual violence, human trafficking, and even death is unconscionable and goes against fundamental principles of human dignity. This cruel policy serves no purpose other than cruelty itself. Such blatant disregard for the wellbeing of vulnerable people cannot be tolerated in a civilized society. Trump also demanded Ukraine take US deportees amid their war defending themselves against Russia's invasion. I urge you to take immediate action to stop these unconscionable deportations to Libya and uphold America's commitment to protecting human rights for all people, regardless of citizenship or immigration status.
