The proposed Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) threatens to stifle free expression and open discourse on the internet. While aimed at protecting children, the vague language and broad censorship powers granted to unelected bureaucrats could enable overreach and suppression of lawful online speech. This act poses a serious risk to constitutionally protected free speech rights by compelling platforms to proactively monitor and remove a wide range of content. Rather than this heavy-handed approach, we should explore more targeted solutions that uphold civil liberties while still safeguarding children from legitimate harms online. I urge you to oppose KOSA and instead work towards balanced policies that protect free expression and internet freedom.
